                                                   Peaks   slyly

#4
            No solution
            What to do?
            Anger
                        Worry
                                    Relax
                                                Accept
                                                              Believe.

            Spring stuns soul’s sweet center
                  Summer sends scion
                           Fall fallows
                           Winter was

(Poem to my loom)

            Arachne’s gift by
            cruel Athena’s spite,
            doomed to dwell
            in a corner.

1978

            Hurling notes at
            myopic commuters;
            mockingbird,
            buoy of the dawn.

(To my first daughter)

            Joy born
                        Joy budded
                                    Joy blossoming
            Joy broken
                        Joy blithe
                                    Joy brand new.

(To my baby daughter)

            A buzzing of bees,
                        the honey drips,
            Watch out for the sting:
                        Jenifer

Poem on moving from the country

            Out from Eden
                        into the real world.
            Chick from the egg,
                        womb to fire.

 Ocean Poem

            In ebb the fund
            of oceanic glitter
            leaves pebbles
            amidst pearls.

#17

            Cricket sings carefree …
            his purse is always empty.
            I mourn pocket full.

#18

            Morning glories twine.
            Can magenta blooms be scorned
            When amongst green beans?

#20

Moon through the window
            Shining bright but cool yellow.
            The sun is jealous.

21.
Saturday nightmares
            Sunday dreams, Monday working.
            Water flows downwards.

22.
Jasmine, gardenia,
            Coriander, bergamot,
            White ginger the finest.

23.
Cat sleeps between legs
Turning his lump swats at toes.
            I pull you closer.

24.
Mockingbirds stopped singing in July.
 Locusts
            took up the burden.

25.
Alone is sometimes lonely
When time runs slowly.
            Frost on peaches rots.

26.
The flaw with being
A doormat is that you’re flat.
            Even thistles bloom.

Jellyfish

            Becalmed Pacific
            Jellyfish are everywhere
            Stars through the ocean.

PASSION’S MIRROR

Euridice’s Lament

                                                Passion:
                                    Promised
                        Primal
            Potent
                        Poised
                                    Paused
                                                Faltered
                                                                Fell
                                                                        Festered
                                                                                    Finished.

3.
            I have known
            Love without sex
            Sex with love
            Emptiness
            Wholeness
            And Home

To a lover

            A thrip of tongue
            could not prevent
            protrusion’s spark
            it’s earthy day.

Ditto

            Pearls of no price
            Passion’s dew
            Shivered from the core
            That’s the quake of you.

S.

The day I fell in love
All of spring fell into my heart,
      And I died.

16.
            Cicadas scraping
            Winding up afternoon heat
            Like my lover’s heart

19.
            Lady lust remains
            Elusive though clothed in lace.
            Come fall bugs go mute.

27.
Cornstalks in August
            Waiting for rain to come.
            Ocean between us.

28.
The purpose of fruit
Is to lure a hungry bird.
            My peach is for you.

29.
Champagne and jasmine
            Shadowing candles reflect
            Shivering passion.

30.
A soft white belly,
            Clutching arms, enclosing legs,
            Wet warmth all for you.

31.
Thinking hard of you
I lie soft and then resist.
            That passion brings you.

32.
With knees by my ears
            All my cooing crescendos
            And butterflies roar.

Lisa’s Trick

            Love juice in my mouth
You relax and I kiss you
            Returning favor.

33.
Have you ever had
            An entranced lover lick you
            Soft between your toes?

34.
When I sit on you
            The connection is so deep
            My soul is sated.

NATURE’S CHOICE

35
Autumn sun                                                                                                                                             Has a precious warmth                                                                                                                        At end of life                                                                                                                           Becomes the butterfly.

Chrysalis

            Now that I’m called Cho
What new name has the butterfly?

      Footsteps
      A door slams
      This one perfect moment.

37
      Look at moving water.
      Unexpected hues
      Color chorus.

38
Last night I dreamed aliens landed.
      Brought their babies.
      Gentle creatures.

Science says humans top the life pile.
      But cats know better.

40
The cow in the meadow speaks.
      What do I know?

41
The stork looks frail and spindly.
      I walk but I don’t fly.

42
      I know that rooster.
      He’s black and flat.

43
      Beyond horror are the wars.
      This cat tortures a mouse.

44
Paris Hilton in black Zen robes.
      Roshi glittering in pink.

45
Bored looking at a knot for an hour
And never a knat crawls out

46
            Newborn each moment
            Happy Birthday
